"Cowbot": JBS's free tool performs more than 30,000 socio-environmental analyses
The high frequency of use—three out of four users return for consultations—demonstrates producers' confidence in the tool. Used in 20 states, particularly Pará, Mato Grosso, Goiás, and Rondônia, 'Cowbot' covers all regions of the country. In addition to livestock farming, the tool can also be used to verify the compliance of properties involved in all types of agricultural activities, such as those involved in the purchase of grains and other commodities.

The 'Cowbot' works like a WhatsApp chat , interacting with interested parties and providing information. It allows ranchers to verify the socio-environmental compliance of rural properties before negotiations, using geolocation data or the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR) number. The tool analyzes criteria such as absence of deforestation, environmental embargoes, and overlap with Indigenous lands, quilombolas, or conservation units.
With an average response time of less than a minute, the platform replaces processes that previously took around three days and depended on intermediaries, often at high costs.
"Cowbot democratizes access to socio-environmental information, enabling safer and more informed decisions, in addition to significantly reducing the risk of acquiring animals from irregular areas," says Fábio Dias, Sustainable Livestock Leader at JBS. The company's goal is to promote traceability of the commodity chain throughout the country, similar to the Transparent Livestock Platform (PPT).
Transparent Livestock Platform
The Transparent Livestock Platform is a JBS initiative, protected by blockchain technology, allowing producers to record transactions between cattle suppliers with security, integrity, and confidentiality. The platform, also free and accessible online upon registration, is constantly evolving, incorporating tools such as CAR searches by CPF or CNPJ, multi-protocol socio-environmental assessment, and continuous improvements to the user experience.
Through the platform, producers can organize data from their own supply chain and issue declarations of origin for the cattle they sell. With these initiatives, JBS reaffirms its commitment to transparency and sustainability in the production chain, promoting practices that contribute to environmental preservation and the strengthening of the agricultural sector in Brazil.
