China reports bird flu outbreak in one of its provinces
An outbreak of H5N1 bird flu was confirmed by the Chinese authorities in Liaoning province, declared the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
The disease hit a farm with 24,500 birds in the northeastern province of China, according to Reuters.
25,472 birds exposed to the virus were culled at the beginning of the week. Authorities in Liaoning reported last week several cases of H7N9 bird flu at peacocks a zoo in the city of Jinzhou. In Asia, only Nepal has reported multiple avian flu outbreaks (H5N1) in March, at farms located in Makawanpur area.
