Cornelis Vrolijk completes acquisition of Dutch seafood processor

The recent acquisition is part of Cornelis Vrolijk's plan to further strenghen itself within the fish supply chain. The company has not offered any further details regarding the transaction.

Bertus-Dekker will continue its activities as an independently operated company.

“Thanks to the solid position of Bertus-Dekker in the field of processing and sales of demersal fish such as plaice, sole, gurnard, mullet and squid, we are taking the next step on the road to supply chain integration. We are now expanding our ship to shelf concept with flatfish. We provide consumers with a high-quality product, which is sustainably caught and whose origin is traceable,” Director Annerieke Vrolijk said.

The management of Bertus-Dekker, consisting of Arie and Rick Ouwehand, is also excited about the development: “We have a strong family culture in which professional skills and quality are highly valued. Cornelis Vrolijk shares these values with us. We see many opportunities in strengthening the mutual interdependence of both companies.”

Cornelis Vrolijk is an international family-owned business, currently run by the fifth family generation. Its activities comprise fishing, farming, processing and trading in fish and shrimps, always with the objective of supplying a high-quality and sustainable product for human consumption. Many of the company's products carry the MSC and ASC certification labels.
