Myanmar reports first ASF case
Myanmar reported its first case of African Swine Fever (ASF) which occur on August 1st but was confirmed only two weeks later. The outbreak was reported on a small village by the Chinese border called Keng Tung, in Shan State in eastern Myanmar.
From 65 pigs present in the backyards farms in the village 15 were found infected with the virus. All the animals were culled after the outbreak was reported.
Meantime, Russia updated its status on the disease with more outbreaks reported in small farms located in cities located near the Chinese border. Experts are warning that more outbreaks are expected in Myanmar since none of the Asian states affected so far couldn't find a way to deal with the disease. ASF virus has appeared in Asia a year ago in China, since then the disease has spread to the continent and has lead to the culling of more than 5 million pigs.
