Philippines bans poultry imports from 3 countries over bird flu fears
As Business Mirror reports, the authorities from the Philipines have made the decision of baning the imports after the three countries reported to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) outbreaks of bird flu at their local plants in the last two months.
“There is a need to prevent the entry of the HPAI virus to protect the health of the local poultry population,” Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel F. Piñol said in a statement.
In the Netherlands, according to local authorities, the HPAI virus has been discovered at a duck facility in Biddinghuizen, Flevoland.
Meanwhile, Russia's agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor announced bird flu outbreaks at facilities in ZAO Pticefabrika Kostromskaya, Kostromskoy, Kostromskoya Oblast.
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture told the OIE that there were outbreaks of H5N8 HPAI in Riyadh, Al Kharj, and Al Mazahmyia, which affected birds.
