Spain reports increased production of chorizo
Production of cured sausages (chorizo) in Spain has increased by 55% in the first quarter of the year, reaching to a million kilos labelled with the seal of Consortium of Spanish Chorizo, reports CdeComunicacion portal.
Export markets are targeted this year by the companies that are part of the Consortium of Spanish Chorizo with a special interest manifested for the United Kingdom and France.
In France, an advertising campaign in the specialized press is being carried out, as well as product and information samples to more than 50 purchasing managers, in order to convey the importance of consuming a Spanish chorizo authentic and quality.
The approach on the British market was different, advertising campaign, public relations with media or, for example, different recipes on the Great British Chefs portal being part of the strategy.
The evolution of exports in these countries with respect to previous stages reflects a constant growth, in such a way that the value of the products and the habit of consumption are consolidated.
At this moment, top 5 export markets for Spanish Chorizo comprises the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Canada and Belgium.
At the end of the year, the production of cured sausages is expected to reach 2,1 million kilos, with 500,000 kilos more than last year.
