Vietnam increased its shrimp exports to the US
Shrimp exports from Vietnam to the US went up by 6.6% in the first two months of 2018 compared to the similar period from 2017, reaching a value of $75 million. According to VASEP, "the U.S had risen to the second rank behind the EU in top shrimp importers of Vietnam."
Based on data provided by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service, there was an increase both in volume and in value of shrimp imports into the US.
In 2018, shrimp imports into the country still maintained a stable growth. In January, shrimp imports into the market reached 61,716 MT, valued at US$593.2 million, up 20% in volume and 22% in value, says VASEP based on the USDA data.
