Vietnam's processed tuna exports went up 22.3%

VASEP explained that, in particular, the export value to most of major importing markets grew positively. "Exports of frozen tuna products (HS code 03) accounted for 54.2% of total export value and increased by 14% year on year. Notably, despite the smaller proportion, sales of processed tuna products (HS code 16) increased nearly 22.3% over the same period last year."

According to the report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first 11 months of 2017, the total production of tuna in the central provinces including Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa and Phu Yen reached 17,400 MT, up 8.8% over the same period last year.

Furthermore, production in Binh Dinh province this year increased sharply by 19.3%. Meanwhile, the production in Khanh Hoa and Phu Yen decreased slightly compared to the same period in 2016. Higher production, stable raw tuna prices and high demand drove a rise in tuna exports of many enterprises in 2017.
