INTERPORC strengthens its cooperation with China by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the CFNA
The meeting, held at the ICEX Auditorium in Madrid, brought together more than 150 Spanish and 90 Chinese companies in a high-level institutional and business environment, with the participation of China's Vice Minister of Commerce, Ling Ji, and the Secretary of State for Trade, Amparo López Senovilla.
During the day, nine Memorandum of Understanding were signed, six of them related to the pork sector, including that of INTERPORC. The Interprofessional played a central role in this institutional mission, participating in meetings with the Chinese Embassy in Spain, the Spanish Trade Office in China, MOFCOM, and the Chinese Chamber of Commerce (CFNA), with the aim of strengthening cooperation in all areas of the pork sector, from health protocols and exports to promotion and sustainability.
INTERPORC's general manager, Alberto Herranz, emphasized that China is an essential partner for the sector, and this agreement "strengthens the position of Spanish pork in this strategic market." He added that "the Memorandum symbolizes the relationship of trust built on the foundation of quality, food safety, and the sustainability of our production." Finally, he concluded by noting that INTERPORC will continue working with Chinese authorities and companies to consolidate a stable and lasting presence in the sector in the country.
For his part, Daniel de Miguel, INTERPORC's International Director, highlighted the importance of the agreement, emphasizing that "it represents a firm step toward consolidating deeper cooperation, as it will allow for the development of joint initiatives in promotion, innovation, sustainability, and market opening, strengthening mutual trust and the positioning of Spanish pork".
During the forum, Chinese representatives, led by Vice Minister Ling Ji and Li Na, Deputy Director-General of MOFCOM's Department of Foreign Trade, highlighted the role of Spanish pork as the main European supplier of pork to China and its contribution to balancing food supply chains.
