Paraguay: Pork export revenues increased by 87 percent in August

The number of kilos shipped increased by almost 80%, while  the value generated exceeded USD 35 million, that is, 87% more than in 2024, according to data from the National Animal Health and Quality Service (Senacsa).

Of the total exported, 85% was destined for the Taiwanese market,  a country that continues to grow in importance for this sector since it eliminated tariffs on Paraguayan pork in July of this year. Uruguay, with 8%, and Brazil, with 5%, are other markets for Paraguayan pork.

Along with the increase in pork exports, there has also  been an increase in the sale of pork offal abroad.  In 2024, at the end of August, 21,000 kilos of offal had been exported, while  this year more than 160,000 kilos of this product have already been shipped.

In terms of economic value,  pork offal exports increased by 531% , reaching revenues of more than USD 93,000.

Until the end of 2023, pork exports generated less than USD 20 million in annual revenue for Paraguay. This figure will increase in 2024, exceeding USD 33 million, while  with four months remaining, 2025 is already recording higher figures.

Beef exports

By the end of August, a total of 247,577,236 kilos of beef were exported,  surpassing all previous records for this point in the year. These shipments generated revenues of USD 1.425 billion for the sector.

The main destination for these exports was  Chile, where more than 77 million kilos were sent , followed by Taiwan, where more than 33 million kilos of beef were sent.

Other important markets include  Israel, with 23.6 million kilos ; the United States, with 22.8 million kilos; Brazil, with 13 million kilos; and Russia, with a similar amount.
