Russia discusses the possibility of exporting meat to Thailand

Representatives of the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance and of Thailand's Department of Livestock Development have met on a business mission "Russia-Thailand" in February to discuss technical issues on access of Russian livestock products, such as beef, pork and poultry meat to the Thai market.

Russia discusses the possibility of exporting meat to Thailand

According to Russia's veterinary watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor, the Russian officials informed their Thai counterparts in detail about the system of veterinary control of livestock products and the surveillance of transboundary diseases in the Russian Federation.

Besides, the issues of compartmentalization and regionalization of the Russian Federation with regard to African swine fever and avian influenza were discussed in detail. The Thai side provided the necessary explanations on the procedures for obtaining the permit for access of Russian products.

The Thai specialists were invited to go on an official visit to Russia for the purpose of reviewing the activities of the veterinary service in the territory of Russia.

Also at this meeting, the issue of confirming the authenticity of veterinary certificates for Thai products transited through the territory of the Russian Federation, as well as other topical issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed.
